Available in either Natural or Redwood, the Theodore Percussion Claves are an excellent addition to a handheld percussion setup at any level, from professional establishments to primary schools. Cleverly designed with a hollow strip running through the centre of the Claves, & closed at each end with smooth wood, this feature resonates & amplifies the sound to great effect.

Very important in Afro-Caribbean music but also used in popular music in recent decades, the basic principle when playing claves is to allow at least one of them to resonate.
The usual technique is to hold one lightly with the thumb and fingertips of the non-dominant hand, with the palm up. This forms the hand into a resonating chamber for the clave. Holding the clave on top of fingernails makes the sound more clear. The dominant hand at one end with a firmer grip holds the other, much like how one normally holds a drumstick. With the end of this clave, the player strikes the resting clave in the centre.

    Excellent finish, very bright sound, however I don't recall seeing that hollow stripper running through them - she must have run off with the postman!

    Very quick delivery and fantastic value from a supplier who knows what they are talking about. These are for our grandson at Christmas so haven't actually been used. I couldn't however resist a little tapping together in the pack and they sounded great, so much more tuneful than cheapies, I'm sure he will love them. Buy a pair much more subtle than a drum kit!

    I found these claves to be good value and all round fit for purpose. They resonate well enough and have a good tone. I have limited use for claves so was unwilling to spend a small fortune on a set (which some claves sell for) so found these to be perfect for my needs, so if looked after well there is no reason why these should't last for some time. Overall a great product for the money and also great service from DJMusic, I would recommend both the claves and DJMusic for your musical needs. Stu Mck.
